19 Black women were elected as judges in Harris County, the largest county in Texas and the third largest county in the United States, which includes Houston. The group ran on a Democratic ticket and were dubbed online as the #Houston19. Harris County is extremely diverse. 70% of its 4.5 million population is non-white. In January the women will being four-year terms and make a huge difference for people of color in Texas.
